Let me tell you a story about something that’s been bothering me for more than 5 years now. Back in the early days of 2018, I decided to write a pretty long article. It was all about how I thought a big company called Samsung should stop using curved screens on their phones. I thought those screens were a bit tricky to use, and I wanted them to switch to flat ones. But you know what? Not everyone agreed with me, and that’s where my story begins.

When I shared my opinion, lots of people reacted to it. Some of them were really mad at me! They said I didn’t like Samsung and that I was totally wrong. They even said they loved the curved screens. I thought it was a bit funny, even though it made me feel a little strange. But you know what? Even today, I still think those curved screens weren’t a good idea.

As time went on, more and more people started thinking like me. They began to say that phones with flat screens were better or at least easier to use. Just a few months ago, people got really excited when they heard about a new phone called the Pixel 8 Pro. It was going to have a flat screen, and that made a lot of people happy.

And then there’s a new rumor about another phone, the Galaxy S24 Ultra. Some people are saying that Samsung might change their top-tier phone to have a flat screen too. That’s a big change because the special Ultra phones have had curved screens for a while. But wait, there’s more to the story.

Someone who knows a lot about phones, called Leaker Ice Universe, shared some interesting news. They even made a picture that shows how the Galaxy S24 Ultra might look next to an iPhone 15 Pro. This new phone might have a really big and clear screen, which sounds cool, right?

But here’s where things get tricky. I’m not sure if I really like this idea. You see, the phones before, like the Galaxy S23 Ultra, were big and had curved sides. Those curves made the phones feel nice in our hands. If the phones become flat, they might get wider and feel a bit sharp. That could make a big phone feel even bigger, which doesn’t sound great.

Imagine if your favorite toy suddenly changed shape and didn’t feel as good to hold. That’s how I’m feeling about this change. But you know what’s interesting? Some phones have corners that are a little bit round, like the corners of your favorite candy bar. This makes the phones comfy to hold even if the screen is flat.

So, even though I’m not really saying curved screens are the best, I do think companies like Samsung should think about making phones that feel nice to hold. Other famous phone companies, like Apple and Google, are also trying new things to make phones better. It’s a bit like when you’re trying to decide which game to play next. You want it to be fun and comfy at the same time. That’s what phones are trying to do too!
